Sommer Austin is a veteran of the Chicago comedy scene and now a fixture in the Los Angeles comedy community. With more than 15 years of experience in stand-up, storytelling, and improv, she has brought her smart, heartfelt, and often delightfully absurd perspective to stages across the country. She has performed at iconic venues including Zanies, iO Chicago, The Second City, and Flappers, and has been featured at festivals such as The Chicago Women’s Funny Festival and The Burbank Comedy Festival. She was also a member of the improv troupe The CEO of Everything at The Playground Theater for six years, honing her comedic timing and improvisational skills as part of a beloved ensemble.
Beyond performing, Sommer has built a reputation as a producer and host who creates inclusive, community-driven spaces for comedy. She co-produced The GoGo Show, a long-running storytelling and stand-up showcase that has thrived in both Chicago and Los Angeles. She co-founded Chicago Ladies in Comedy, where she hosted their celebrated open mic for years, and she produced and hosted No Shame Theatre Chicago for seven years, curating hundreds of original performances and cultivating a supportive environment for artists.
As a performer, Sommer was a regular cast member on the award-winning comedy game show Wisecrackin’ and brought her wit and charm to live audiences as a regular co-host of Dat Phan & Friends in Los Angeles. Known for her quick improvisational instincts and her ability to blend humor with vulnerability, she excels at drawing audiences in through personal stories, social commentary, and the quirks of everyday life.
Currently, Sommer is the co-host of the award-winning podcast Mad and Finally Single, where her sharp humor and openness shine in conversations that explore love, relationships, and the comedy of being human.
